Bethan Hâf Jones - Biography

Get to know me with an insight into my background and heritage, alongside my career so far as a performer.

I am a 2019 graduate of Northampton School Of The Arts BA (Hons) Actor Training degree, validated by The University of Northampton.

Since graduating, I have performed with A Play Fitted Theatre Company,(www.aplayfitted.com) most recently in the role of 'The March Hare' in 'Malice in Wonderland' by Joseph Pedder.

Over November and December of 2019 I toured in a production of 'Dick Whittington' as Alice/Fairy Bowbells with The Looking Glass Theatre Company across the Midlands.

In my three year BA (Hons) Acting degree at Northampton School of the Arts, I undertook vocational training, with 35 contact hours a week with acting techniques and methodologies featuring Uta Hagen, Stanislavski, Meisner Technique; accompanied by Estill Voice training, Laban and Lecoq Pure movement, with Stage Combat classes (which resulted in APC Examinations and qualifications) and 1 on 1 / group musical theatre singing classes, with Shakespearean Text and classical works studied throughout the degree.

I find Shakespeare, Voice, Movement and Acting techniques the basis of an actors' success. As this stage in my career I feel a sense of excitement to learn and develop further by taking in opportunities from a new institution and new practitioners.

In regards to Shakespeare and classical text, I was fortunate enough to undertake two years of textual analysis training; which included workshops with Barbra Houseman and Tobias Deacon. I was delighted to have been cast as 'Lady Macbeth' in Roger Smart's production of 'Macbeth', working with Meisner technique, Anne Bogart's Viewpoint work intertwined with Tadashi Suzuki's martial art styled training methods to create weight and free flow as part of my character development.

In harmony with my training, I have undertaken workshops and short courses with Emil Dale Academy of Musical Theatre, The British Youth Music Theatre, full training and membership with The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, as well as vocal workshops with Anne-Marie Speed. I am a confident mezzo-soprano, welsh speaker and trained gymnast with qualifications from the British Gymnastics Association. I also have a passion for teaching, having taught Shakespeare classes to primary school children in North Wales, as well as working for Smile Theatre Company Italia, teaching English and Drama to different schools and classes of children all across Italy.

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends; they both play a very big part in my life. Theatre and acting are my main passions in life, alongside fitness, travelling, music, and sport.
